A Study of Histochemistry for Mucin and Immunohistochemistry for CEA on the Ovarian Mucirtous Tumor
À±Çý°æ
Abstract
The author studied histochemical nature of the mucin and immunohistochemical findings for anti-CEA on the ovarian mucinous tumor in relatin to its tumor grade and main cell types(endocervical or intestinal type). PAS-Alcian blue staining &
mucicarmine
staining were used for the evaluation of mucin.
The materials consisted of 4 benign mucinous tumor with endocervical type, 4 cases of benign tumor with intestinal type, 5 cases of borderline mucinous tumor and 5 cases of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, and each case of normal endocervical tissue
and
colon tissue including adenocarcinoma were used for external controls.
@ES The results are summarize as follows;
@EN 1. No significant difference of PAS-Alcian blue staining are noted between the tumor grades or cell types of the ovarian mucinous tumors. But positivity of Alcian blue is relatively more prominent than that of PAS in the intestinal type
malignant
lesion.
2. Mucicarmine positivity indicating the presence of acidic mucin is more conspicuous in the cases of intestinal type and malignant lesion of the ovarian mucinous tumor.
3. Immunohistochemical study using anti-CEA on the ovarian mucinous tumors revealed more intense reaction in the intestinal type and malignant lesions.
